The blood moon hung low over Ashfang camp, casting an eerie red glow that bled through the towering pines. Shadows twisted and lengthened, the forest around us alive with whispered fears and restless spirits. It was a night heavy with ancient power — and a night that promised no peace. I stood at the edge of the clearing, the weight of the pack pressing behind me, their eyes reflecting firelight and uncertainty. Giant bats and gargoyles manned the threshold and roof. “We can choose another booth,” Liam said when I kept eyeing the house. Shaking my head, I tugged him back when he was about to leave. “No,” I stated. “Let’s go. This is perfect.”

I smooth a page down, but the spirit of the house, in a playful, annoying mood, sprints around me–a phantom of silent chaos. A single page rustles before falling flat, and it’s a picture of a forest, lightning bugs dancing, blinking in the gaps between trees.
