My heart locked up. “Go!” I roared to the warriors at my side. They fanned out instantly, joining the fight. I leapt the last few steps, landing between Kate and the wolf lunging for her. My claws ripped across its throat before it even realized I was there. It crumpled at my feet. “Inside! Secure the Luna!” I barked at Celia, who was already pulling Kate behind the line of warriors forming a wall. But Kate’s eyes burned at me, furious. “I’m not running!”

At the same time, he decreased the size of his drawing and increased the sturdiness of its muscle and also a weapon. It took him two seconds to change his creation for the better. “Off you go. Kill the gasoline man for me. He is your kin too. Let’s see how strong he is.” He patted his drawing petulantly. The drawing instantly jumped into the battlefield and pushed out the unrelated pests that were in the way. “We are on your side, dear. Don’t be silly. We’re just teasing you! The deeds speak for themselves. Besides, your dad’s right. All the girls you’ve had before practically threw themselves at you. Maybe the Moon Goddess is giving you a challenge.” My mom was trying to explain in the gentlest way possible. A challenge. Hmm... I hadn’t thought about it that way. And knowing myself, I loved a challenge. I liked to win. That is how I ended up as a top warrior in our pack. "Mom's right! So, how are you going to swoon her?" Dad raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. "I managed to get her to agree to lunch with me."

The little black cat curled up in her lap as usual. "Tonight we find out the real skinny on this, kitty," she murmured as she opened the heavy book to the page she had marked. "I don't even know what I'm looking for any more but I hope I find it soon." She opened the book to the place she'd marked, two pages of hand-drawn sketches. One of the drawings especially caught her eye. The face of the wolf looked almost human and she had the bizarre feeling the animal was staring out at her from the page.

A caterwaul of yowls echoed throughout the cave as cats flung themselves at each other. Flamestrike narrowed his eyes after grappling with a scrawny looking she-cat, whose claws raked his side and belly. Flamestrike made quick work of her, leaping out of the way before she could deal another blow. Acting fast, Flamestrike suddenly lunged forward and pinned her to the ground. With one strike of his claws, he sent her fleeing back towards

They were having a difficult time doing so. My mate was not ready to comply.
