Crave Me, My Monster

Crave Me, My Monster

The space was devoid of both color and emotions, just like the man himself. “Master Rael has returned to the company, young miss,” the house keeper said as I ate, making me nod in understanding. After I was done, I returned to the Anderson family mansion to get the rest of my belongings. As soon as I walked in, I saw Kylie slumped on the sofa, with Miranda still consoling her. “You…you dare to come back?” Miranda pointed at me, and I couldn't be bothered to say anything as I headed upstairs.

Monkshood - One With The Wolf

‘Griffon’s right, you need to stop holding back, the only way you are going to learn to control your strength is to use it,’ Aiden finally spoke up, having been watching quietly from the sidelines. ‘Tell that to the front door,’ Alexa muttered, referring to the heavy oak door of the main pack house, which she’d accidentally ripped off its hinges that very morning after forgetting to temper her strength. ‘A door can be fixed, and bones will heal, but you only have one life. If you live that life in fear of what you might do, then you will lose it when the time comes to defend it,’ Aiden laid his hand on her shoulder. Alexa said nothing but nodded, moving away from the two male wolves and towa

After several attempts at monster fishing, Zen finally understood the monster’s behavioural patterns enough to decide what strategy to employ. The cap-wearing variant would often spend more time underwater circling his foot. However, if it was a regular Pixie Prank Parasol monster, Zen would often feel a subtle probe at his foot with the tentacles as the monster tried to pull it down from his branch if it could. If Zen moved his foot up, the regular blue mushroom monster would simply surface with a bulb and kind-looking face offering Zen a ride.

Carrying a Monster

I turned and walked away silently. But I didn't go to my room. Instead, I quietly went behind a large oak tree in the yard and waited in a blind spot. A few minutes later, Kael changed out of his casual clothes and into his hunting gear, leaving the house in a hurry. I suppressed my scent and followed him silently. Kael looked very happy, his steps light. He was on the phone as he walked, his face beaming. He was obviously announcing good news to the person on the other end.

Man, 'Monkeying Around' is one of those underrated gems that sneaks up on you! The ending totally caught me off guard—it starts as this lighthearted romp about a mischievous monkey causing chaos in a small town, but by the final chapters, it takes this wild emotional turn. The monkey, after all the havoc, actually saves the town’s festival from a greedy developer by uncovering his shady plans. The townsfolk, who’d been furious at the monkey, realize it was just trying to protect their traditions all along. The last scene shows the monkey sitting on the mayor’s shoulder during the festival, finally accepted as part of the community. It’s a bittersweet but heartwarming conclusion that makes you rethink the whole story—like, was the monkey really the troublemaker, or were the humans just blind to what was important?

What really stuck with me was how the story flipped the script on who the 'villain' was. The developer was the real antagonist, and the monkey’s antics were almost like a wake-up call. The art in the final chapters shifts too, with softer colors and more focus on the community coming together. It’s a great example of how even silly premises can pack a punch if the storytelling’s strong enough. I’ve reread it a few times, and that ending still gets me.
