Instead, he slipped the phone into his pocket and looked at me, his gaze steady. “Dane has already started,” he said. A knot formed in my stomach. “Started what?” “He is setting the narrative.” I frowned. “Meaning?” “He is telling his version of the story before you have the chance to tell yours.”
