That bitch was ready to end her own life the moment she was caught. “How did you know she was an imposter?” Lucy asks, her eyes still wide in disbelief. “Who are you?” a deep voice growls behind me. I turn, my breath catching as my gaze falls on the former Alpha… Rhett Lawson. The resemblance between him and Atlas is undeniable. “I’m Silver of the Ironfang Pack,” I say with a smile. “That doesn’t answer the question,” Atlas growls, his voice low. His cold eyes lock onto mine, sending a chill down my spine. “Who are you?”

"Wolfsbane doesn't kill. What do you mean they are supposed to be dead?" Dr. Riley sighed. “True, wolfsbane doesn't kill, but silver does—at least when left for a longer period in the bloodstream." I took the other tube from his hand and surveyed it. "But there isn't any silver here. How would they have gotten silver?" I questioned. “There is, in that one, if you look closely," he gestured for the tube in Harry's grip, the one that contained the wolfsbane we had seen earlier. Harry raised the tubes against the sun while he squinted. "I do see something in it, but barely."

“It’ll bring your animal nature to the surface. Not your animal. You will be able to resist the urge to shift easily enough, but if you sense a threat, you’ll fight. Maybe you’ll even start fights. You’ll not be able to turn off the predator inside you–the one with a killer’s instinct. At least until your body gets used to the potion, which will be in a couple of days.” That didn’t sound good at all. They might not be recognized by his mom’s minions, but they didn’t want to attract unnecessary attention to themselves. If they picked fights and caused disruptions, they would stand out like sore thumbs. Nobody could know they were headed for Boulder Mountain. They couldn’t be responsible for o

I slowly picked up my silver goblet, taking a calm sip before setting it down with a sharp, heavy clink. "If you want to talk about what happened at HARMADS, Lady Fangfei," I said, my voice dropping an octave into a low, terrifying growl that vibrated through the floorboards, "why don't we discuss the three thousand gold credits you attempted to drain from the Silverclaw Dominion chest using a forged seal?" Fangfei’s face drained of every ounce of color. Her hands jerked back from the table as if burned. "What... what are you talking about?"

I nod curtly at his suggestion that we head out, and follow him down the hall, but not without sharing one last gaze with the woman whose stillness I was yet to unravel. All thoughts of warm blue eyes were temporarily pushed to the back of my mind as we headed to the Silvermane border. We had confirmed the accuracy of the rogue attack on our way and it turns out that it wasn’t the first. Just the most alarming. At the border, the Silvermane Protectors, led by Garron’s three daughters were already in position, each wolf manning their posts as their eyes swept across the woods beyond. The twitch in their ears at every stir and rustle of wind and the intensity of their gazes spoke of true disci

Elena's heart started beating faster. She shaded more carefully, revealing line after line of cramped handwriting. The Silver Shield. Not a hiding. Not an escape. A stand. Requirements: One Silver bloodline. One territorial Alpha. Perfect synchronization through blood bond. Location: The heart of pack lands, where the first stone was laid. Effect: Creates an impenetrable barrier around pack territory for 72 hours. Nothing enters. Nothing leaves. Buys time to negotiate, to plan, to breathe. Cost: Extreme. The Silver and the Alpha will be drained to near death. Recovery takes weeks, if they recover at all. Children should not attempt this—the power required is too great.

He did not care at all what Collins was doing on the border or what his wolf was dreaming about in the dark. Why should he go through the agonizing pain of tracking a ghost? Collins flipped through the medical sheets once more, then shoved them away in frustration, the paper crinkling under his palms. Then, he turned back to the glowing terminal and searched Ada Lube’s name on the regional pack registry. News about the Silvercrest Holdings leader very quickly flashed before his eyes. The keywords on the headline boards showed up in bold, blood-red font across the network screen. [775 MILLION SILVER PIECES FOR A RITUAL PAIRING.]

"Valkyrie Two and Three, deploy Silvermist protocol. Blanket the target area." The other two drones swooped low over the ocean, their wings angling with impossible grace. They released a fine, shimmering mist from their dispersal pods, a glittering cloud that descended upon the churning water. The "Silvermist" was one of Katherine's more elegant and brutal inventions: an aerosolized silver nitrate compound, molecularly bound to a clinging agent. Harmless to humans, but agonizingly, flesh-meltingly corrosive to most supernatural creatures, especially werewolves and the magically summoned beasts they controlled.

Damien rolled down his window at that threat. “Hello, friend,” he said smoothly, “That won’t be necessary today. We are on our way to Silver Tower, and I can make a quick call to sort this out.” Damien pulled a flat rectangular screen about the size of my hand from a concealed space next to him. “And, as I’m sure you know, silver only works on wolves from the South, not the North. It would sting and make us angry…” he trailed off.

Neal, "I recently just managed to sell out a large part of my older stock of silver, and it was quite the profit. Take it now before I change my mind." "Oh, well," I say with a smile, "I'll gratefully accept it." Mr. Hoyt nods before pulling out the chain from the showcase and setting on the counter, before going over to Tula and Hala. Machiv and Syl are looking at some ear cuffs, some with zircon, and Syl decides to buy a plain surface silver cuff. Tula and Hala also purchase a few pairs each, and with my silver necklace Mr. Hoyt enjoys our business.
