Dimitri turned around, brows lifting slightly. Zoe walked over, all four feet of her confidence on full display, and handed it up to him. He looked down at the drawing. Three stick figures stood in front of a black square labeled "HOME". One had long curls. One had a crown. The third had very sharp shoulders and icy blue eyes drawn in clumsy marker. Above them, Zoe had drawn a yellow sun with a big smile and the word "US" in careful, crooked letters. Dimitri held the paper like it might explode.

The younger folded open the first page and his mouth became an 'O' " wow..you drew this?", Dae asked looking at the colourful portrait of a girl. "Yeah..", Aroon smiled. Dae turned the pages and there were drawings of Flowers, trees, river, sunset, animals, facial features and a lot more. "Aru..you drew this all ?", wonder was evident in the younger's words. "Hmm yes...", Aroon said. He was now standing behind the younger's chair, his both hands on table, caging the younger in between, looking at his own drawings.

They were completely absorbed in their artwork. "Hi, Xai," I said, offering a friendly smile, but she didn't even glance up. Guess she gets that from Francis. Tsk. "What are you drawing?" I asked, peering at her creation. It was a family tree, with three men labeled Tito, Kuya, and Daddy, and a girl labeled with her name: Xai Reign. I immediately noticed that someone was missing.

That evening, Hazel walked into their bedroom carrying a sketchbook. "I'm finished." Aurora accepted it. On the first page was a drawing of their family. Aurora. Darius. Hazel. And two tiny babies drawn almost exactly alike. Both of them were wearing ribbons. Aurora smiled. "Why are they both wearing ribbons?" Hazel looked confused. "Are they not supposed to?" He had used thick, bright wax crayons to draw a massive, clumsy red triangle with yellow fire coming out of the bottom. Right next to the rocket, there were two small stick figures drawn in black ink, holding hands. "This is me, and this is Mila. We are flying away from the mean boys." Julian walked over, his heavy boots sounding soft against the carpet as he dropped down to his knees next to his family. He reached out, his large hand gently patting Leo’s dark curls. "It looks amazing, Leo. You drew the lines very straight."
