“What good would it have done?” she snapped, her voice sharp. “I tried to shield you from it, Ragnor. I hoped—prayed—that you’d be the exception. But it’s clear now that I was wrong.”
I ran a hand through my hair, frustration and despair warring within me. “And the prophecy? How does that fit into all of this?”
“The village X,” she said, her tone dark.
“The only village that carries hybrid blood, supposedly the cure for the Shadows’ curse. But then... there’s your girl. Useless. She didn’t even have her wolf awakened, nor does she have the healing power from the witch bloodline to be used. She’s completely useless!”
