They lay in the dark and looked at the ceiling and she waited for him to feel whatever he was going to feel. Not grief exactly. Not relief either. Something that didn’t have a word because it was about a man who had been something and nothing and terrible and tired and had died looking at a mountain.

I mean, actual nothing.” I knew I couldn’t understand or even fathom the existence of a ‘nothing’ because everything I had even seen or experienced was ‘something’

Then she walked up to me, viciously grinding her foot into my wound, using my blood as ink to press down her handprint. After finishing all this, she revealed a cruel smile. "Let him go," she ordered the security guards before saying to me, "John, you know? Your look of despair was just like your mother's before she died. On the day I went to court to declare you dead, I deliberately delivered the good news to your mother. Who would have thought that she'd be so frail? She passed away due to a heart attack." Nora did not have an ounce of pity on her face, only provocation.

I died unloved. I lived unloved. And in the end, they divided my belongings before my body was cold. It was all for nothing. The darkness swallows me. And I let it.
