“I want to run.” Barric stills. “Shift. Is your wolf talking to you?” I blink up at him, realizing I’d drifted somewhere else for a second. My thoughts feel… crowded. “Yes,” I say slowly. “She wants to go for a run.” I do not mention the mate thing. Absolutely not. If it’s in the biblical, animal, plant way I’m thinking, I’m not sure how that will help right now. I take another look at Barric and all those hard bronze muscles, and suddenly I’m not sure how it won’t help.

I need to get out of here, "I'm going out for a run." "Ro..." she starts to say, but I don't give her permission to keep making things even worse, so I leave. And even though all I want to do is to shift and run, I force myself to take off the clothes first because they're not mine. I strip with jerky movements and then I run, shifting in motion in less than a second. I run straight into the woods behind the houses, with no destination.

I was on cloud nine, riding in comple ecstasy and I didn't want it to end anytime. Who would have thought, that after everything, one day, it would be Michael himself, my Mr Rover, who would want me?

I urge myself. “Run?”

“Goodbye, Alpha” And then I ran.

And maybe it is. But as I sit there in the stillness of my apartment, flight booked, escape secured. For the first time, running doesn’t feel powerful. It feels lonely.

It was painful and I was weak but I didn't care, I just wanted it off. I didn't know what was going on with me but the only thing I understood at that point was the voice in my head and the only thing it was saying to me at that moment was- RUN. I didn't know where to run to but I wanted to run, that was the only thing that could keep me sane. The voice came again and this time it was louder, piercing through my eardrums, it was like someone was screaming at me at the top of their voice. RUNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!

I could only see a man yearning for me, so why was I running? “And what's that? You?” I glared, barely. “Yes, me. Only me.” Fuck.

I push the guilt away there’s nothing I can do about it now. Next time I will be more prepared. I smirk the idea of next time can’t come soon enough. My little wide-eyed doe sure is a distraction. I dress quickly hitting my home gym I take a run burning off any residual desire that is lingering. Clearing my head as with each stride I pick up the pace until I’m running flat out. My running machine isn’t your usual treadmill, it mirrors a hamster wheel in some ways, your speed powers the machine pushing the floor away to gain momentum. It has a resistance level to make it harder as you go.

He stares down at me, horror flashing across his face. I open my mouth to speak, but before I can— "Run." The voice in my head commands it, and my body obeys. I don’t want to run, but I do. Faster than I ever have before.
