It was scorching like a flame and if auras could be tasted, hers would definitely be bitter. I shuddered, walking over to the first aisle to check it out. The first book that caught my attention was Blood, Pawns and Obsession. It was a dark romance by Rylie Martin. I had one of my projects on hold because I wanted to read this book and get into the head of the psychotic male lead, so I would understand him better and be able to execute my plotline to my taste. The grin on my face unconsciously widened, and I brought the book to my nose, sniffing it in.

They must be incredibly powerful, I thought. I wondered if these Silver Bloods were real, though. I’d never heard of them before. Then again, I’d never heard of much outside the Raven Falls pack until I arrived here. I read a little more before I reached the end. It was a fascinating story, but I couldn’t understand why the book was in the history section. I didn’t really believe in Silver Bloods, but the idea was intriguing. Wait, blood? Her eyes widened. Did someone touch the book with their bloody hand? Curiosity gripped her hard once again. She looked closely at the other books beside it and at the next layer, another book was seen also to be tainted with blood smears. It was not obvious at all, but due to Roselle's meticulous and observant nature, she definitely would have noticed and picked up what was normally unnoticeable to others.

It wasn’t clear to me why I felt a twinge of guilt, just seeing it. “Chasing down the Vampire. Stopping the reign of blood.” She read, pointing to the title, and subtitle. “Oh. What’s it about?” I asked, a little awkwardly. “It’s a vampire who suddenly went crazy after tasting blood for the first time.” She replied, and I scoffed. “You’ve got to be kidding me.” I said, snatching the book from her hands.

Blood from my nose had run past my lips and chin, smearing across my cheeks and ears. The front of my shirt had long since lost its original color. It was soaked through with blood. The pool beneath me had spread to Derrick’s shoes, sticky and dark. “Harriet?” Derrick’s voice trembled. He called my name again. “Harriet?” Mom had been celebrating Sheila’s safe return. When she saw Derrick storm toward the storage room, she followed him. The sight before her made her scream. She covered her mouth and staggered back a step. Dad had been comforting the frightened Sheila. After hearing the commotion, he rushed over as well.
