Lucas joined them on the bed, "Looks like our teddy bear is in for some excitement." They continued weaving imaginative tales, laughter filling the room, until Kai finally drifted off to sleep with dreams of daring teddy bear escapades. Eve softly kissed his forehead and whispered, "Goodnight, my little adventurer." Lucas smiled, "Sweet dreams, buddy." As they tiptoed out of the room, Lucas looked at Eve, "Our bedtime stories are getting more elaborate." Eve chuckled, "Blame it on your son. He's got a vivid imagination." And with that, they left the room, leaving behind the peaceful slumber of their little mommy's boy, surrounded by dreams sparked by their whimsical bedtime tales.

A subdued silence enveloped the fireplace after Shango’s story, interrupted only by the occasional chirping of the night crickets. “That does not count as a bedtime story,’’ Babybaby finally found her voice. “It is child,’’ the thunder god answered. “No it’s not’’ Babybaby insisted quite stubbornly. “bedtime stories are supposed to be a nice tales with happy ending, all bedtime fairytales are, like the ones Amaka used to read to me, this one is a stupid story.’’

He began the story. His voice was low and steady, perfectly pitched for drawing little listeners (and tired grown-ups) into sleep. It was an old story—one his own mother had told him, he had once mentioned in passing, in a moment of vulnerability that felt like a lifetime ago—about a little fox who got lost in the woods and found her way home by following the stars.

The best part is how perfectly he uses that thick dick — stretching me, pounding me, and leaving me shaking with pleasure until I’m desperately craving more. My parents and Uncle Ken gave me the best punishment I’ve ever had. I fell asleep in his arms, already excited for what tomorrow would bring.

He seemed just woken up. I stood up and lifted him. I slowly rocked him, put his head between my neck. "Not yet, Baby. Go to sleep again." "I can't, Mommy. I miss Daddy's bedtime stories." He murmured. "I'll just tell you a story." I sighed. "What bedtime story do you want?" "It's about the King and Queen. The King left his Queen in the war so the enemy got the Queen." What the hell. "Baby, why-" I stopped speaking when the door opened. He was surprised to see us. Reid dropped from my grasp and ran towards Wright.

“Just give me some time, I’m trying to take care of some things at the moment.” After that, the line went silent. I almost thought he had hung up, till I heard his soft sigh. I slumped my back against the bed frame, and tears streamed down my face. “Aaron, you need to go to sleep now,” I said, trying to coax him to sleep. “No, mom. Read me a bed time story since you’re not coming home” he murmured, his voice sleepy. “Alright,” I nodded, giving in to him. “So what type of story do you want to hear?”

I would be damned if I only instructed them and left. For a million years, my order would only accumulate dirt, as Ethan and Ezra would bury themselves in their video games and Emily would baby Penny. “Mum, tell us a bedtime story.” Ezra pleaded. Defeated, I began my tale of the legendary Wolf's King and his Luna. It happened to be their favourite story, and they never grew weary of it. In less than ten minutes, they were all fast asleep, like wasted adults. I tucked them into bed and watched them sleep for a while before turning off the light.

I should be drifting off, but my mind is still buzzing, still reaching for something to hold onto. “I can’t sleep,” I admit after a few minutes. “My brain won’t stop.” “What do you need?” “Tell me something. A story. Something that isn’t about councils or threats or ex-girlfriends or Nathaniel.” I shift closer, pressing my face against his chest. “Something to quiet my head.” “I don’t do stories.” “Then make one up. Something boring enough to knock me out.” The sound he makes might be a laugh. Might just be an exhale. Hard to tell with Knox.

"Adonis, do you want me to take you back to bed?" "No." "Why not?" I said. "You know you need sleep if you want to grow up big and strong." "I don't want another nightmare," he pouted. "Alright. How about this? What if Mommy comes with you and helps you fall asleep? I could even read you a story." Adonis's whole face lit up at the mention of a story, and I couldn't help but smile. "I'd like that," he said. "Give me a moment to clear..."

Then, in a low, even voice, she began telling stories. She told five. Thomas didn't seem remotely sleepy. In the past, by the third story, Theo would already have been asleep. But she knew better than to compare Thomas to him. Thomas's insomnia ran deep; his body and mind refused to rest easily. Patient as ever, Sharon kept going. She had prepared around thirty bedtime stories that night. If none of them worked, she would simply try another approach tomorrow. But the truth was—she hadn't slept much the night before, keeping vigil over him. Now, lulled by her own soft cadence and the drowsy pull of her words, she began to nod off mid-sentence.
