Novel & Cerita Interlude In A Book

The air smelled faintly of beeswax polish and old ink, and the only real movement in the space—besides the occasional turn of a page—was the gentle swirl of dust that danced in the light. I was supposed to be studying. The book in front of me—Runic Inflection and Spell Preservation: An Annotated History—was cracked open, the spine bowed like it had been read and re-read for decades, and still, none of it made sense. My quill lay forgotten beside it, the ink on its tip long dry, and my mind… well, my mind had wandered. But not nearly as far as Ingrid’s.

Her fingers wrap comfortably around mine as I open the book. “The Little Fox and the Hidden Valley,” I read from the first page. Iris settled deeper into her pillows. Her breathing slowly becomes calmer as the story unfolds. Outside the window, the afternoon sunlight softens into warm gold. And for the first time in days, everything felt peaceful.

"If you burn this, your story with me... it never reaches a conclusion. We'll be in this 'Volatile Middle' forever. The tension, the fighting, the hunger... it never settles into peace." Elara looked into his grey eyes. She saw the demon who had branded her, the man who had died for her, and the partner who was now standing in the Zero-Point with her. "Peace is just another word for 'Paid in Full', Vane," Elara said. "And I’m not interested in being settled." She touched the flame to the corner of the book. The leather didn't burn with orange fire. It erupted in a geyser of white light and rainbow colored ink. The pages turned into birds made of words, flying out of the vault, through the co

Chapter 12: It was cold, and the creaking of the chair echoed through the room, the curtains rustled as the wind blew against them. The clouds were Grey, it seemed it was going to rain. The sound of the flipped pages as I read the book, waiting for Penelope to come. Anxiously, I want to see this Edriana and I don't know why. It doesn't seem like she's anything interesting, but somehow I feel she can be interesting.

Yet, even amidst the lull, I couldn't shake the feeling that somewhere on the horizon, a plot twist awaited, ready to challenge the narrative I had come to accept. In this interlude of tranquility, I discovered the art of embracing the moment. The absence of turmoil had bestowed upon me the gift of mindfulness, allowing me to relish the smallest pleasures and savor the fleeting beauty of each passing day. And so, I wandered through this oasis of calm, acutely aware that the sands of time would eventually shift, reshaping the landscape of my life once more.

She had been waiting to read the book, but she was interrupted by unfortunate events the previous night. Flipping through the first page, she continued to the prologue where the story began. Arlene was too engrossed with the book that she didn’t notice that she had passed a lot of time. The book contained 30 chapters and she had read fifteen chapters at a go. She stopped reading when she heard her stomach rumble, so she closed the book and checked the time on her phone, it was 4 pm already. She turned on her data to check her i*******m feed and the writer’s forum she was on for updates.

The book is like being the center of everything in this room. Elora didn’t dare to open it. She was worried that bad things would happen once she looked inside, studying its contents. An idea flashed, but it sounded like an excuse Elora had made so she could meet him. Yes, Elora thinks of reading it with Caspian. What if Elora asked Caspian to accompany her when Elora read the book? Was it common sense, or something made up just so Elora could spend time with Caspian? Elora bit the inside of her lower lip, her eyes moving restlessly. She slowly walked over to the book. Just as her hand touched the surface of the book, a knock on the door made her jump.

The recording could not begin until the watching had been done. He looked up. He looked at Ruth. He looked at Thomas. He looked at Ernest. He said: "The book is the third thing. Not the watching and not the crossing. The book is what the watching and the crossing produce together. The book is the grove in fifteen years." Thomas said: "Yes." ---

I watched as the book absorbed the blood leaving no stains or traces of any blood. “No way!” I watched in amazement as the book glowed and words began to appear on the pages of the book. As the words completely appeared, I began reading the content on the pages. It was more of a history book than anything else. There was something inside here about a prophecy, but what caught my attention is the name of the person being mention the most. Adelina Illezra. Huh?

I thought maybe I might find something related to Orphe. I stare at the page for a few seconds longer before closing the book. The sound echoes slightly in the quiet room. I sit there for a moment. Then I stand. Slide the book back into place. My fingers linger on the spine for a second. Then I let go. I look around one last time. Still nothing. Just shelves. Just silence. I turn and walk toward the door. The moment I step out, the noise returns. Soft voices. Footsteps. Movement. It feels… normal again.
