The resulting jolt lifted me slightly, my legs no longer making contact with the ground. "Come on!" I exclaimed, delivering a sharp blow to his shoulder. "You've got to be joking!" I yelled, feeling his arm tighten around my waist. He held me as if I were a child. Anxiously, my heart raced with worry. There was no escape from his grip. No idea surfaced, no plan emerged. It seemed I would have no choice but to succumb to his demands. It was an agonizing decision to make, but surrendering would never be in my best interest. Chapter 49

The battle reached a crescendo, each strike pushing me closer to the edge of defeat. In a moment of desperation, I unleashed a powerful surge of energy, my alpha instincts roaring to life. But Vance countered with a swift maneuver, sending me sprawling to the ground once more. The spike found its mark, leaving a deep gash on my shoulder. Pain seared through me, and my body screamed in protest. I attempted to rise, but Vance's foot pressed against my chest, keeping me pinned to the forest floor. The weight of defeat bore down on me, and Vance's sinister laughter filled the air.

Holding the vial carefully, she knelt beside me. "It's going to be okay, Mom," she whispered, offering me the vial. The scarlet liquid flowed down my throat, bringing a sensation of warmth and revitalizing energy. My blurred vision cleared, the pain subsided, and life returned to me. With an effort, I stood up, while the battle still roared around me. The Supreme Alpha, with his furious determination, continued to fight for the safety of our family.

The chains glowed faintly, etched with sigils that pulsed in time with my spark. “Corrupted,” Dax whispered, his voice tight with horror. “They’ve already started.” Riven drew his sword, his eyes blazing. “Form up! We take them now!” The recruits rallied, Vera and Thea barking orders, their voices cutting through the panic. My spark surged, a wildfire begging to be unleashed, and I fought to hold it back, my hands trembling. The outriders charged, the beast’s chains rattling, its eyes locked on me like it knew what I carried.

“I’ll be back later. Don’t get too comfortable.” Then he was gone. And I let out a breath I hadn’t realized I was holding. Vincent crawled to me and leaned his head on my shoulder. I leaned into him, gently kissing the top of his hair. “Are you okay?” I whispered. He nodded, fierce and silent. I looked over at Xavier he was shaking, but still clinging to his brother’s coat. I was terrified. My head still throbbed, my wrists burned, and my body felt like it could collapse at any moment.
