The Things We Don't Say
I remained at the back, hiding myself away from what was currently going on.
Someone at the front of the little crowd was describing the meal they would be having. I hadn’t heard of half the things on that list before, so I just did what everyone else did.
Nod and clap where appropriate.
"Enjoy your meal," the man said after his speech. "One of us would be here, right by your side, until you are done with your meal. And then, we can cover more of the ground before you call it a day."
“No,” a strangely familiar voice responded from the table. “My family and I would be calling it a day here after this meal. We have to get back home before the sun sets.”
