Only two executives are left until we reach the top of the food chain. I hear the sounds of machines as I look over at Kendall's side; sparks of blue light appear on or off as she works on another one of her crazy gadgets. I went through my head, figuring out the purpose of the island Eva purchased. She calls it Paradise Island, a small island off the coast of the Caribbean. Our air support captured the island unseen, and it only captured a small hut and no visual of Hugo or Eva. "What the hell is on that island?" I mumbled. I rub my head before my brain can be fried from all this thinking.

Hays. Ezekiel and I decided to take the table near the glass window since there's only a few students seated there. It'll be peaceful since it wasn't that crowded. When I was about to sit, I forgot that I didn't have any utensils with me. Also, I forgot to order a drink so I walked back to order. Fortunately, there's only three people left in the line, it wouldn't take me so long to order. While I'm busy waiting in line, someone tapped my back and I was really surprised by it. I looked back to see who it was and it was Aleah.

He said as he extended his arm and Hazel intertwined her arm with his. He led her to the hotel personal Yatch. It was her first time riding a yatch. Hazel was so excited. It felt like they were taking a swing on the water and after 10 minutes of smiling and blushing and small talk and laughing over and again on funny jokes, they reached our destination. Hazel was amazed to see that our date was on a small island with an amazing candlelight setup. There was a fairy lights decor done. The view was so beautiful that it had me gasping in surprise.

Marshall pointed to their right. Tamara looked in the direction where he was pointing. In the soft morning light, the silhouette of an island was slowly illuminated. It floated on the cerulean sea, enshrouded in wisps of mist. It looked heavenly. "Is that Sunrise Island?" Tamara leant forward instinctively, as though that would help her see better. Marshall nodded with a smile. Narrowing her eyes, Tamara saw lush green forests and sleek white sands. A flock of seagulls soared above the island, cawing happily as though welcoming them.

It’s only polite, since we share a nervous system. I pause, letting the jeep’s vibration steady my thoughts. "You… have a name?" "Of course I do." Her tone drips with sass, the mental equivalent of an eye-roll. "I’ve been waiting for you to be ready to hear it. Isla. Try not to forget it. It means ‘island’—isolated, unshakeable, and surrounded by wild water." My lips twitch, though I keep my expression neutral. Zeke is talking beside me, his voice a steady, grounding anchor as he points out the car window as we roll deeper into the pack territory.

The hostess came back with a glass and a small plate and set them down in front of me with a smile and disappeared again. I looked at the glass. Then I looked at him. He had gone back to his phone like the conversation was finished. I picked up the glass and looked out the window. The clouds had thinned below us and through the gap in them something was appearing slowly. Green and white and surrounded on every side by water so blue it looked artificial. I leaned toward the window. An island sat in the middle of all that blue like it had been placed there on purpose. Which, knowing what I now knew about the people we were going to meet, it probably had been.

"So tell me about the Island then. What's it like?" "It's basically paradise. It's hot, there's a gorgeous cool breeze in the evenings and the air always smells really clean. It's got white sandy beaches, clear blue water, palm trees. The accommodation is... luxury, to say the least. It's very chilled, open and bright. The main house is a mixture of ancient Japanese architecture with a beach hut twist." Mark laughed. "That sounds like a sales pitch."

“I call you Haze not because it’s short for Hazel but because you are my haze.” “What am I?” Gia was confused. “You’re the haze. Haze comes suddenly, mysterious, disruptive, and obscuring.” Gia was about to retort sharply, but Raven took her hand, bringing it to his lips for a soft kiss. “But haze completes the scenery,” Raven said, gesturing to the majestic hills still shrouded in thick mist. “And haze makes the world more beautiful. At least, it makes my world more beautiful. I prefer misty mornings over sunny ones. That’s why only I am allowed to call you Haze.”

“Dammit.” Glaring hopelessly, I imagine the wine-colored hair that every fire god has, but theirs were frizzy. I imagine they have brown beady eyes like swirling vortexes of shit. Likely squinting with all that judgment they had for me before even hearing my explanation. The sky over the Forbidden Island wasn’t just blue. It was gold-streaked, with clouds like molten silk floating across it, so painfully perfect it made my teeth hurt. The waves roared against jagged black cliffs like drums of fate. Salt spray hit my face, mixing with the scent of hibiscus and something older—something magical and angry, like the whole island held its breath waiting for me to snap.

"No one would recognize me here, you know!. The wig, the wide sunglasses, the face mask, even the fake mole on my face. Is all this really necessary?" Jonah stroked the top of Hazel's head, ignoring her protests. "The mask is to protect your breathing from the dust and pollution. These glasses are to protect your eyes from the harsh sunlight. As for this wig and hat... just think of it as fashion. Don't you like it?" "I like it." Hazel laughed, her voice muffled by the mask. Jonah stared at the head-sized cotton candy in Hazel's hand. "So why did you insist on bringing cotton candy onto the cruise ship?"
