As if on cue, Jake appeared in the doorway, fresh from training and looking as effortlessly handsome as ever. She took the drink with a smile and takes a sip. He relaxed his hands in his pocket, and scoots closer to her, heaving a sigh. “Enjoying?” he asked. But thanks for asking anyway.” “Why do you pretend to be fake when you aren’t? why smiling when you can’t smile from inside?”. “And who said I am not smiling from inside? You are wrong about it. I am not sad about anything. Not now anyway.” She drank the whole win in one sip.

Jake said and sat down. Jack waved him to sit down and continued with his call. "Talk to him for me, okay? I need to know why" he said and ended his call. " Hey" Jake said again. " Why the scowl?" "I'm just trying to mirror your expression. You know, what you look like every single time" Jake said with a shrug. " I do not look like that all the time. I try my best to smile. You just bring out the scowl in me"

"Oh", I passed a smile and enunciated it the same way he said. "Jay" "That's better", he smiled again. "Are those dimples?", Zendaya cried out. "He is freaking something" I didn't stop Zendaya right now, even I was also finding his smile cuter with those dimples. How could a man manage to be hotter and cuter at the same time? It was unreal.

Jake lowers his hand. “Noted.” Poppy hides a laugh behind her fingers. “Callen… you’ve been smiling again.” “I smile plenty!” “No,” I say, leaning back a little so I can look him dead on. “You smirk, you brood, you glare and intimidate. But actual smiling? The kind that isn’t sarcastic or threatening? We haven’t seen that in weeks.”

“Hey Jake. I’m really happy you’re doing okay now. I’m so sorry I couldn’t come see you at the hospital. I was—” Jake just laughed it off, waving a cheesy hand at me, “I get it, you had stuff going on too. It’s all good. Besides, I’m fine now, obviously.” He struck a dramatic superhero pose, flexing with Doritos still clutched in one hand. “See? Back to 100%. Ready to tackle the world… or at least the vending machine. Which has stopped working by the way, so obviously I’m going to be a major Karen about it and file a complaint.”

She knew this news would change everything. She couldn't stop herself from smiling as she thought about how Jake would react to the good news. His face would light up, and she could already imagine the adorable smile that would spread across his features, underlining the sharpness of his cheekbones and the warmth in his eyes. The sight of his smile would melt her heart and make her feel like the luckiest woman in the world. It was hard to contain her excitement, she felt like mind-linking him to share the good news but she knew it would be worth the wait to see his reaction in person.

Jacob walked behind me, his own eyes cast down, thinking about what lay beneath the mystery of my smile. Smiling gently, lips in a sweet curve, I walked alongside Jacob. My smile was the slow and deliberate kind, a slow smile spreading across my face like a sunrise sweeps across the sky.
