Lorraine's POV This was the first time I have ever seen myself like this. I looked awful. If I were to audition for the role of a witch in Harry Potter I'd get the role without raising my eyebrows high. I heard James' voice from the veranda outside. He was coming to my room. David didn't seem to like the way James treats me. It was written all over his face this morning when James moved me from the prison-like room to this beautiful heaven, decorated with green curtains.

It was wicked and mischievous. Licking my lips, I waited eagerly for his next command. I would do just about anything he would tell me to. “Greedy slut,” he murmured, lightly tugging a lock of my hair before pulling away. “Already begging Daddy for a punishment.” My walls tightened around the toy, a jolt of pleasure rolling through my body hearing his smoky, velvety voice. I didn’t know why, but I enjoyed it when he called me that. “Stand up and come here, Princess,” James said, leaning against his desk, his long legs spread out as he watched my every move like a predator. Before I could straighten up, he shook his head, stopping me. “I changed my mind. I want you to crawl here.”

JAMES POV I slipped out of our bed this morning and took a long run, trying to clear my head. I was worried about my mate. She was so strong but even strong people have their breaking point. She still had her barriers up with me and I was worried I would never be allowed in. I kept reminding myself that she’s come leaps and bounds with me in the two weeks she’s been here. Scout and I ran long and hard, joining the Patrol as they kept our borders safe.

“It smells like shifters, and the guys aren’t that cute—except for one.” His brow arched. “Oh? What’s his name?” “James,” I said, fluttering my eyes innocently. “The star student.” ~ “You’re just to perfect,” James groaned as he moved against me, his hands gripping my thighs to keep me against the tree. I put on my best act and released a fake moan. The bonfire was fun, but I had a goal to work toward, and James was going to help me with it. I did him a favor, and he’d return the favor—that’s how it worked.

James said, staring at her. She frowned but then Harry smacked the back of James' head. "What the fück, dude? Keep your shït together." James brushed a hand down his face and looked away from Anna, fists beating the table. "God, I'm so stupid. I should've known she belongs to someone else," he muttered to himself. "Is something wrong?" Anna voiced, eyebrows furrowing. Liam sighed beside James. "Anna, have you heard the rumors all over the School?" he asked, while patting James' back sympathetically.

It was already late, and James and I retreated to my room where I immediately started teasing him about Ethel. “I wonder what Shoran will have to say about you and Ethel.” I laughed at the look on his face. “There’s nothing to tell! She’s nine years old!” “I think Shoran would have enjoyed your discomfort tonight,” I said and we both chuckled. “How do you feel about tonight?” he asked me. “I told you I wasn’t going to imprint on Sonja and I really don’t get why you don’t believe me,” I said. “It’s not that I don’t believe you, but nobody knows when or how they’re going to meet that person. You can’t possibly know that the girl is not for you before you even met her,” James said.

Apollo’s POV The obnoxious presence of James stood before the dungeon, vomiting his nonsense that fell on deaf ears. My entire focus was on Zelda, standing by his side with a tray bearing a single cup. The tension etched across her face hinted at her internal struggle. James snapped his fingers, yanking me back to his bland speech. "Hey, are you even listening, you imbecile?" he taunted, following my gaze to Zelda. "Ah, I see, you're hooked by her. Is your brain only connected to your dick?" he mocked, chuckling to himself.

Everything changed at the ball that year — the first time I saw James. The second son of a noble vampire family, standing quietly beside his father and elder brother. I felt a hand grab my arm, and I turn to see James looking at me, his eyes soft. “You remind me of my sister, so full of life and vibrant. I miss her. Please tell her that I love her.” He whispers to me. I look at him confused, but before I can say anything, he moves away from me and charges at Scàthach, not making a sound. A dagger in his hand, he plunges it into her back; she screams in agony but releases Hope. “HOPE! Over here!” I shout to her. She comes running over to me as the spell casters start chanting together. Scàthach whirls around and grabs James by the throat.
