Dear Readers, Before you begin Gavin and Kat’s story, please know that Make Me Yours was previously published under the title Desire Me Dearly. This second edition has been edited and expanded to include 20% more content than the original. The main storyline remains the same as the first edition, but I always felt Gavin and Kat’s story needed more. All my best, Iris

It's been three days since she started delaying the inevitable event of being stuck with Dom in Canterbury. After minutes of pondering, she stood up and reached the small shelf of books she has. Her eyes locked on two books, Jane Eyre by Emily Bronte and Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. She had just finished reading Persuasion, and she was still on the assessment of her feelings towards the ending of the story. Maybe another book can take her mind off things. She decided on Great Expectations, gladly picking up the book and bouncing back to her bed, to enjoy another pleasurable surmount of reading a book.

“It's okay, I also just walked straight, didn't look to the right or left.” “It's Jane Eyre.” Diana couldn't help herself when she saw the cover of one of the books on the front in her arms. “I also have one at home.” “Oh yeah?” the woman glanced at her book and smiled shyly. “I was on vacation in Bandung and purposely bought a lot of books as a friend of my boredom. From the synopsis at the back of the book, it seems like an interesting book.” “It is very interesting. Ted sat down on the sofa, his eyes fixed on the diary as he gently opened it. The pages were filled with Jane's handwriting, and Ted's heart skipped a beat as he saw her words. He had never seen her handwriting before. Since a year they had been together, he wasn’t able to spend time with her, not to talk or see her write anything. As Ted gazed at the pages of the diary, he was struck by the beauty of Jane's handwriting. The letters were elegant and refined, with a subtle flair that seemed to dance across the page. The curves and lines were perfectly balanced, creating a sense of harmony and flow.

Her heart thudded in her chest as she untied the ribbon and lifted the lid. Inside was a book. A rare first edition of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, its leather-bound cover delicate yet immaculate. She gasped, her fingers brushing over the gilt lettering. Nestled beside it was a small, cream-colored card. She picked it up, her breath catching as she read the elegant script: “For a literature enthusiast. —N.B.”

This one had a black hard cover with the title engraved into it alongside the author’s name. Jane Austen. It was custom-made. Uncle Sebastien was a lot of things, but him reading fictional literature wasn’t one of the things I had expected. He acted twice his age, like he didn’t belong in this generation at all. Everything about him. The way he talked. His mannerisms. Rigid. Controlled. Weird. I flipped through the pages, still trying to process it all. The formatting looked old-fashioned, like one of those historical editions from decades ago. The names “Elizabeth Bennet” and “Mr. Darcy” were highlighted neatly throughout the pages.

"Eddy, you've gone to such lengths to get revenge on me. But do you even know the person you're siding with?" I pointed at Jane and enunciated each word clearly. "Do you know why she can't get pregnant? It's because back in college, she slept with every rich guy in school and had countless abortions. Her uterus is completely ruined! You're nothing more than the one idiot who fell into her trap." Jane yelled in a panic, "Clare, what nonsense are you spouting?" Eddy's expression darkened, becoming grim. "That's enough. I think you're just jealous that Jane is about to become Mrs. Stark, so you deliberately came here to cause a scene, didn't you?"

I was not your usual sixteen-year-old. I am Nigerian Canadian, my both parents are Nigerian, I have been here all her life so I’m Canadian.
