It was strange and uncomfortable, this connection he felt.
"I’m okay." Adhara breathed nervously, her eyes fixed on the room where she’d been locked.
"What are you afraid of?" Concern laced his voice.
"Nothing… I just remembered something."
Jarckon sighed and followed her gaze to the room. Adhara’s fear spiked when she heard a sound like running water, then echoing voices, whispering. She closed her eyes and focused on the calm flow—it felt close.
