I kept my face cold but didn't refuse Nathan's support any longer.
My mother's situation was critical, and I didn't want to waste time on trivial matters.
Waves of excruciating pain kept hitting me, and I had to bite my lip hard just to stay conscious.

I couldn't bear to think further as a strong sense of guilt washed over me.
During the drive, Nathan tried to speak several times, but I cut him off.

I urged the driver, my eyes fixed on the scenery rushing past outside the window.
