Quinn Briar and I drive home in an oppressive silence. I'm not really sure what to say or how to reassure her because I'm barely hanging on myself. I always knew I'd have to deal with Hank's death eventually. I just never imagined it would be under these circumstances. He should have years left on his life, he's barely even two years old. He nodded eagerly and this made me smile broadly. "Give me a few minutes, I would help you whip up a meal you wouldn't forget that easily, in your lifetime" He said a simple "Ok" and we parted ways. I walked towards the kitchen and met Jennie. Jennie was the only person who made me happy before I was Mated to Ken, she was my comforter, my best friend, and my only understanding family. "Darla, I haven't seen you for a while. What's up?" She asked smiling which made me smile back.
