“Stay away from him. He’s not good news.” Roman just laughed, leaning back in his chair. “You wound me, Cleo.” Julian finally looked up then, and that’s when I noticed it—one of his eyes wasn’t hazel at all. It was silver. Actual silver.

Jade’s eyes brimmed with unshed tears, glistening like polished stones reflecting the light of an unseen sun. “She said you’re next.”

The crowd was dense, but I pushed through and made a beeline for the stairs. I drew nearer and the individual glanced up and met my gaze briefly before averting his eyes. I kept back a bit, waiting for them to take the first step. Another buzz. I did not even need to check my phone to know who it was. "Close enough?" I smiled and shoved my hands into my jacket pockets and leaned in somewhat and spoke a bit softer. “You the one texting me?” He didn't say anything at first; he just sort of leaned in and displayed those incredible eyes, and I definitely saw the dark iris in his eye.

You know when your mind sees something that is so utterly beautiful, so unworldly that it distinctively focuses on the pinnacle of its interest, zeroing in on that magnificent sight, having everything else blur in the background? That's what Nate's eyes did to me. The golden, caramel orbs locked on mine and it was all I could see.
