“Jude?” I lift my head quickly at the sound of Jo’s voice. She’s standing in the doorway, watching me. I get up and pocket my phone, then rush to her. “Hey. Are you done with the game?” She nods, yawns, and rubs a hand over her eyes. That alone sends relief coursing through me before she even says, “Yeah. I wanna sleep.” Me too, baby. Me too. I put my hands on her waist and lift her. She wraps her legs around me and snuggles into my neck. This is exactly how close I want her for the rest of the night.
