I waited for him to tell me 'JK, LOL, aunty you take things too seriously', then I would warn him never to joke about stuff like that and storm off.
However, the look on his face was that of grim seriousness and desperation. Not at all one of mischief, but I guessed it was part of the act. He wanted me to say something before blowing up with laughter, I was tired of waiting.
"Can I laugh?," I enquired although I had no desire to. If he was trying to joke, it was nowhere near funny.
"Aunty mi, I'm dead serious. This is no laughing matter," he responded with an expression as serious as mine.
