His eyes darted down to my grip, registering the sudden seriousness of the situation.

The response came back, a bit shocked then laughter came right after like this was some joke. “I don’t sound like I’m joking, am I?” Can they just cut the jokes off, there’s nothing funny about this and in fact I was damn too sensitive right now and anything could easily piss me off.
