“Congratulations Ms. Young. Welcome to DRIVEA.” After saying my thanks, I hung up the phone. I can’t believe it, I got accepted. I couldn’t sit still. I jumped on my bed over and over again. I wanted to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. I pinched myself multiple times and I didn’t wake up. It’s not a dream. I couldn’t contain my excitement. I’ll be starting on Monday. I should be prepared.

She could be fine. Violet reached up and rested her hand on his hair. “I get why you feel this way. You lost your mother so young, and then your father and brother were gone too. Of course you’re terrified of losing the people you love. But I won’t disappear. I just need one thing from you—a single sentence.” Julian squeezed his eyes shut, hard. He didn’t answer. The room seemed to fill with the sound of his deep, restrained breathing. When he opened his eyes again, he turned slightly and looked out the window. From the second floor, he could see a neatly trimmed pine tree, its dense branches dusted with a thin layer of snow. His gaze drifted somewhere far beyond it.

He says quietly, and I can’t help the blush creeping over my cheeks. We fall into a comfortable rhythm, reminiscing. Julian tells me about his travels and how he met Mauve along the way. I tell him little bits about New York life, mostly the three years after we broke up, skipping the remaining three for obvious reasons. “Seems like you’ve carved your path,” Julian says finally, leaning back slightly. “I always thought you’d end up doing something… unexpected. You have that kind of energy.” I nod, taking a breath. “Unexpected isn’t always bad. Sometimes it just… surprises people.”

His phone buzzed. Aiden: You okay? Julian: Not even close. Zurich was a lie… but I found something. I need to see you. Aiden: Then come home. We’re not done fighting. Julian stared out at the horizon, the lights of Zurich blurring into the fog. He hadn’t just uncovered Project Eden. He had awakened it. And somewhere in that darkness, Crane was smiling again.

“You’ve been involved in every single phase of the project and know the mechanics inside out. I want you to represent our team on stage for the main presentation.” “Alright,” I replied, forcing a crisp nod. “Victoria, you have no idea how excited I am to go back,” Julian shared as we packed our gear. “I wonder if my daughter has missed me.” “You have a daughter?” I asked, genuinely surprised. “Yeah! She’s seven now, just about to start the first grade. Look, she’s absolutely adorable.” Julian pulled out his phone to show me his daughter’s photos—from when she was a few months old, to one, to two. Every single image carefully recorded her growth.

Salvatore Villa – Julian’s Bedroom Julian's eyes snapped open, his chest heaving as he struggled to catch his breath. Another nightmare, his constant companion over the past twelve years, haunting his every waking moment. They all spoke the same message. Revenge. Impending danger. And the haunting past. But this time, there was something different. He saw a figure, shrouded in shadows, with a face that refused to take shape. He couldn't fathom if it's a male or female. Julian's mind recoiled from the memory, his thoughts fragmenting like shards of broken glass.

Ethan asked, Juliana smiled, hoping to put Ethan at ease. "I've always been fascinated by the unknown, and meeting you and the other aliens has been a dream come true. I want to understand you and your powers better, Ethan." Juliana said, Ethan studied Juliana for a moment before nodding. "Very well, Juliana. I can see your genuine curiosity. I will show you what I can do, but promise me you won't be afraid." Juliana eagerly agreed and followed Ethan to a clearing where he could demonstrate his powers. With a wave of his hand, the ground trembled, and a small tornado formed out of nowhere. Juliana watched in awe as Ethan controlled the swirling winds effortlessly.

His voice was not steady any longer. “No,” Julian whispered his answer. “The world out here is just the same as it is back home. Only that it’s clothed in glitters and gold and false hope… so no, I’m not happy and I’m not fulfilled. And I think about my family every day and I wonder if one day I can go home to where I am fully accepted.” Silence stretched. Julian hadn’t expected that to be his answer. And Antonio hadn’t expected Julian to give such a response.

The heavy oak doors swung open, and the chill of the outside air followed him into the foyer where Elian was polishing the bannister. Julian didn't head for the lounge or the dining room. He walked straight to Elian, a white envelope gripped in his hand. "Negative," Julian said. There was no rage this time, only a flat, dead finality that was far more terrifying. "Julian, please... I’m six months along," Elian whispered, dropping the polishing rag. He stood up, his hand reflexively supporting the small of his back. "Look at me. Look at the baby. How can you still believe a piece of paper over the life growing right here?"
