I closed my eyes, about to jump off a building, when an ill-timed phone ringtone blared. On the other end of the phone came a voice that I couldn't be more familiar with. It was my own voice. "Don't jump, Jack Sterling."

I looked down, it was higher than I thought. “Yes I still want to jump, I never get to do stuff like this.” I pulled my dress off and threw it at Jake. I stepped back and ran off the cliff. I did a frontflip then landed with my toes pointed straight into the water. I felt hands grab my arm and pull me to the top. I wiped my face and opened my eyes. Jay was smiling. “You know what you just started right?” I was confused. “Now he’s going to make you go up until one of you wins at this little game he does. You’ll have to keep doing tricks until you can’t possibly do another jump.” I giggled.

Angry. "Listen up!" Jack yelled to his team. "Once we jump, we are on our own! No extraction until we reach the river! Watch your step, watch the shadows, and for god's sake, don't touch anything colorful!" "Green light!" the jump master shouted. "Go! Go! Go!" Marcus jumped first, plummeting like a stone, his minigun strapped to his chest. Haley followed, screaming, tethered to Jack. "Geronimo!" Ben yelled, waddling to the edge.

I asked as I moved to the next one, the space between them wider than the one before. "We race from this end to that end. First to reach it without falling wins." I looked over to where Kingston pointed. The platforms seemed to spread further and further apart. Some of them were so far apart that the jump looked nearly impossible. But I wasn't a quitter, so instead of pointing out the obvious, I just nodded. "Well, what are you waiting for? Let's get started." Jackle moved to stand in front of us as Kingston moved to the same plate as me. Each was wide enough to fit at least three people at once.

Then she saw her chance—the window. With a silent curse, she backed toward it, moving slow, careful. The voices continued, but she didn’t wait to find out who they belonged to. She climbed onto the ledge, gripping the frame as she prepared to leap. Then— The door burst open. A man stood there, silhouetted by the dim hallway light. His eyes locked onto her, shock flashing across his face. Lilly didn’t hesitate. She jumped. The cold night air rushed past her as she tumbled down, rolling onto the damp grass with practiced ease. Pain shot through her shoulder, but she ignored it, scrambling to her feet.

Lucille looked at Joe waiting for his response. "So you're in?" I interrupted before Joe could answer her. "Yeah. Yeah. You win, you psycho. But if I die I'm so going to haunt you till you drop dead. Deal?" "Deal." My smile reached my ears as I hugged her. Then the man cried louder when I surprised Lucille with a quick wet kiss. "Don't worry ma'am, he is our video jumper so he's jumping solo. Okay, so I, uh, need you guys to listen to the instructions, yeah?"

“What do we want to stop here? “ I asked in surprise. They said nothing, but David reached into a hole in the bush. I was afraid the young man would peck at a snake, but when David pulled out his hand, nothing happened. Justin took my hand and the three of us retreated to one side of the tree. A second later, the round opening before me collapsed underground. I was shocked and retreated to further back. “Come in.” David jumped into the dark round hole without any hesitation. There was no hint of any emotion in his eyes, but anyone could tell he was just focused on no one but her. "Nik calls them the 'jump'— when my dream would change to another dream. It does feel like jumping for me. So far, the most jumps I had in one night are six. Usually, I'd just get three jumps, or two when I'm lucky. The more jumps I do, the sicker I feel in the morning. A boy I think is called James jumps first and does an almost perfect dive. "Are you going to jump?" Lacey asks as we wait behind everyone jumping. "Fuck no." "Why not? I am." "It's too high, I'm not good with heights like this," I explain. "Please jump! If not I could always just leave you with Miss Willow," she smirks. What a little bitch, blackmailing me. "Fine, but you better keep protecting me," I say before standing on the edge. I look over at the dark blue water as the people who just jumped swim aside.

Jeff is fighting with one, and I have to say is putting up a good fight even with his injuries. “Let’s go!” I shout to Lilian and hear a string of curse words with every movement. It actually makes me smile. Once we get to the top, I help Lilian onto the beam. “It’s a ten foot jump, you have to take a running start.” “You act like you’ve done something this stupid before.” “Yep.” Is all I say before I take off across the support beam and launch myself onto the rope climb support. “That’s all you girl, I’ll catch you when you come back.” She laughs.
