Kim stood in front of the mirror, adjusting his collar for what must have been the tenth time. He couldn’t stop smiling. There was a softness in his eyes that had been missing for a long time. Today felt like the beginning of something... something he wasn’t sure he deserved but still hoped for.

His nod was so stiff that it looked painful. I rolled my eyes. “And maybe try smiling?” Knox scoffed. “I don’t feel like smiling at people, Aria.” “Well, you have to.” Another pack member greeted us. I smiled as I replied in greeting. Knox lifted his lips slightly. It looked less like a smile and more like a grimace. I blinked. “What was that?” “A smile,” he said flatly. I stared at him, then shook my head. “No, that was terrifying.”

He smiled darkly, and I felt my lungs finally fill with air when lord Brogan returned to his normal form, his power lessening by leaps and bounds. “There.” Lord Kirov smiled, turning to me suddenly.
