It was a predatory expression that sent icy shivers down my spine. His words were also laced with an undercurrent of annoyance that prickled at my nerves. As much as she loved her daughter, she was an independent woman. Fatima had taken Karl's death particularly badly. She'd insisted on handling all funeral arrangements, which Jozef had been happy to give up, after handing off a list of guests who would want to attend the wake.
