I stopped short when I saw the cover. ‘Knot We Cannot Untie.’ That was the book he was holding. I can't believe that Kael would be reading one of Linda Lively’s books. “You read… this?” I said, the surprise evidently in my voice. Kael looked up, one brow raised. “Why? I set the device in my lap and rolled my head to stare at the freckles that marked his face and the smile that tugged at his lips when he realized I was watching him. "What are you reading?" Of course, when Ed asked, the smile vanished immediately, as Ruby hadn't realized she was smiling at him. “This... the book is funny.” Ruby lowered her head and held up her book. Nervously, she adjusted her position, leaning against the headboard. “The Kite Runner.” Ed read the title and was puzzled. "Do you think the book is funny? Which part?” Ed had never found any part of that book amusing because the story was heartbreaking. “Um, which part was it?” Ruby frantically flipped through the pages, looking for a funny part that didn’t exist, until Ed smiled amusedly and took the book from her hands.

Lyrics POV It’s been a week since the twins saved that little girl’s life. I’ve gone up scouting multiple times and each time I smell wolves in the area of the cliffs. The twins are pissed because I refuse to let them go on runs and tell them I know it’s safe. We have been doing extra workouts and laps within the shield. I refuse to let my siblings suffer, the same fate that our parents did. I’m getting dressed and getting ready to go scout again in hopes that the wolves haven’t been by again when I hear Luca running up the stairs, calling my name.
