And then Klaus serious, frightening, impossibly composed Klaus started singing.
Not well, mind you. His voice was rich and surprisingly nice, but he deliberately twisted it into something absurd, over-exaggerating notes, trilling like a bird with hiccups. He held one hand dramatically to his chest, the other reaching toward the ceiling like some tragic opera star.
I clapped a hand over my mouth, stifling the laugh bubbling up. “You look ridiculous!”
“That’s the point,” he grinned between verses. Then he turned the microphone toward me. “Your turn.”
