Arthur~ The knock came at six in the morning. Not a normal knock. Not the kind delivered by neighbors, friends, or delivery drivers. This one was sharp. Deliberate. The kind that immediately made your stomach tighten before your brain caught up. I was already awake. Sleep and I had not been getting along lately. So when the second knock came, I was standing before it finished.

I said before turning to her, “So Lindy, wanna hear one of Milo Beckett's knock-knock jokes?" "All right then." She answered with a smile. "Oh god. No. Milo, please do not embarrass yourself." Rowan commented. The four of them laughed together while mumbling words under their breath that only they were the ones who could hear. "Knock knock." I said to her. Lindy chuckles before asking, "Who's there?" "Ash." "Ash who?" she asked. "Sounds like you're coming down with a cold," I answered smiling. I could hear Silas laughing with my joke while the other lads moved their heads sideways looking as if it was that horrible. I glanced at Lindy who was smiling and snorting.

Something dangerous. Something Daniel had spent years protecting. Or hiding. Emma leaned back in her chair. Outside, New York traffic moved as usual. People laughed. Cars honked. Life continued. Meanwhile, her entire world was unraveling. A sudden knock on the apartment door made her jump. Her pulse instantly spiked. She glanced at the clock. Three thirty in the afternoon. Daniel shouldn't be home for hours. The knock came again. Slow. Firm. Deliberate. Emma carefully approached the door.

For one second, I honestly consider pretending I didn’t hear it. Then it comes again. Tap. I already know who it is. Nobody else would knock on my window. I roll over with a groan and pull back the curtain. Of course. Beckett. Standing outside like this is completely normal. Like people regularly show up at bedroom windows. Like he didn’t spend this morning proving exactly who he is. I shove the window open. “What?” Not hello. Not hi. Just what. His eyebrows lift slightly. Good. Let him be surprised.

(laughs in an evil manner) “Knock knock knock.” A loud knock erupted from the door, and I sat up straight, my eyes wide with amusement. Yes! Yes!!!! He was here! Finally! I turned to Nayla, who looked so nervous as she struggled to turn on her camera. “Knock! Knock!” The knock came again, louder this time. Once I saw our camera was up and ready, I opened the door, ready to capture the moment. I gasped, my phone falling from my hand when my eyes landed on Roy.

KNOCK KNOCK Leila was drying her hair after a warm bath when she heard a knock on her door. “It must be him.” She hurried out of her room and opened the door. I bit my lower lip as I knocked again on his door, this time harder and louder than before. Once again, all I heard was silence. There was no response or any sounds of movement on the other side of the door. Hayden…are you ok? I felt like time had frozen and everything was happening in slow motion as I reached out my hand grasp the doorknob. I took in a deep breath and held it before slowly turning it. It turned, the room was unlocked.

Murmuring softly before opening it, “I bet he heard the commotion and is here to get rid of me, if not worse.”

4 days later Knock, knock, knock, knock Marigold was awakened by the sounds of knocking at her door. She pulled her purple covers off of her head revealing her messy bed hair covering her face. She pushed her hair out of her face and mumbled, "Come in." ERRRRRRR EEEEEEEK
