They fled into the forest, their legs barely touching the ground as they ran. ************* For a long time, nothing moved. The stream murmured quietly beside her, carrying away fragments of her breath. Then everything went quiet. Korra could feel her spirit animal floating, suspended in a haze. She could see her body below, stiff, pale, numb. The pain was gone, even the fear felt far away. Am I… dead? No sound came, no heartbeat, and no breath. Only silence and the faint shimmer of light growing above her. A figure stepped out of it, tall, radiant, and cloaked in silver. Her hair flowed in the moonlight, and her eyes glowed with the soft warmth of dawn. The very air trembled around her.

I was trying to sympathize with a ghost. "So... Are you looking to pass on?" I was unsure how to proceed. The only thing I had to go off of was movies or shows that I had seen, and they usually mention finding the light. Was that a real thing? "I have been trying to find out what I need to do to pass over, but up until now, no such luck I am afraid." Jesse held up his hands and shrugged. We stood there, in the small room staring at one another. Jesse watched me with concern, and I stood there trying not to completely lose my mind.

“The northern border of Blackwood is the Bloodclaw pack’s hunting ground. They’ve laid blood traps. Any wolf who crosses that line will be torn to shreds on sight. Cora, that cloying perfume you wear? It will be the perfect lure.” Cora’s face went pale. I pointed to another mark on a different map. “The southern valley is the resting place of an Ancient Wolf Spirit. Disturb it, and the entire pack will be cursed. Cora, do you know whose bloodline the spirit demands for its appeasement ritual?” The color drained from Cora’s lips. She looked desperately to Aiden for help. Aiden’s expression was grim. In this new life, he only remembered the victory. He’d forgotten the price.

The two still had it in them. " You need to listen to me." I warned the spirit wolf, " We are not your enemies here. Don't allow yourself to be used." She launched at me again, and I aimed and punched her jaw hard. She clawed my chest before falling. Then she did something unusual and turned to mist. The mist held me down. I couldn't touch her, but her face was clear, and her eyes had an evil glint in them. "You dare to fight your god." She said.

This was really happening; this was all reality, not a bad nightmare. All of a sudden I felt the veins from around me weaken and in a rapid motion I saw Alora stretch her hands towards Spirit and aim a blast at her back but before the energy orb could even reach her it was stopped. The action confused me as all motion stopped and the Spirit chuckled, a low pissed off voice that made us aware that she was beyond mad. “I knew you were trying to betray me,” she said, lifting Alora up in the air and bringing her in level with her, “Did you really think you could outsmart me? Did you really think you could defeat me?”

I snarled, stalking toward him. Corvin folded his hands into his sleeves, as calm as he could muster. But that smug gleam in his eyes gave him away. “Usually,” he said slowly, “the Moon Spirit only takes the spirit. But if she also took the body, well…” he let the words linger, “...then maybe she wasn’t worthy after all.” A low growl rattled from my chest before I even knew it. My wolf was already on edge, and Corvin’s smirk only made the fury burn brighter.
