They were tortured until they lost all of their reasonings and just became one of Mr. Hunt’s lab rats—experiments which never worked. Kaiser focused his attention towards the light at the end of the tunnel-like cell, trying not to get distracted by the figures humping and twisting, groaning with lust.

Jake asked hesitantly. Lucas shook his head. “That shouldn’t matter. Not unless…” They didn’t finish the thought. The implications were too dark. Jake stood abruptly. “We’re wasting time.” Lucas nodded. “We follow what clues we have.” A sudden noise—a faint clatter—echoed from behind a nearby container. Both froze. They exchanged a glance, then crept toward it. A rat skittered out, vanishing into the snow. Lucas cursed under his breath. “We’re jumping at shadows.”

Unconsciously tears start to slip from my eyes and my heart rate spikes, evident by the steady beeping of the heart rate monitor changing to rapid irregular beeps. "Mom, t-th-ey had her." I choke out through the craze of tears and sniffles.

A noise report. My jaw tightened. I felt it then…heat crawling up my neck, rage licking at my control. “There’s nothing down there for you,” I said evenly. “The basement houses laboratory specimens. I have permits.” “Specimens?” he echoed. “Yes,” I replied without missing a beat. “Genetically sensitive laboratory rats. A special breed. Highly reactive. Harmful if mishandled.” It wasn’t even a lie. Not entirely. The officer didn’t look convinced. “I’ll need to verify that,” he said, stepping closer. “Unlock the door.”

Leon, who had been quiet, was already suited up in gloves, getting down to the nitty-gritty of dissecting the mice. The others pitched in to help. As key players on the experiment team, they had more than just Helma's trust—they had the chops to back it up. They cranked out the autopsy data in no time flat. The verdict was in: the lab rat had kicked the bucket due to a nasty Glacier flare-up.

With my shaky paws, I pulled the door hook of the front door open slightly, trying very hard to not to be obvious. I moved to the back and decided to open the right seat and with great fear I pushed the door open, bolting as fast as I could to the front while they began swarming in. Once at the front, I made my way out, dashing as fast as my small limbs could carry me. They were all behind me, growling as they drew closer and closer towards me. I could see the pack borders from a far distance and it made me run even faster as I hoped not to collapse or stumble because my eyes were half closed and my vision blurry because of the air.
