The lab was pristine, sterile, almost unnervingly quiet. Rows of serum vials glimmered under fluorescent lights, computers displayed live test results, and cages in the corner revealed the cruel experiments — human subjects strapped to tables, unconscious under monitoring equipment. Soo-ah’s stomach churned. “They’re worse than we imagined,” she whispered. Her hands shook as she began copying files to a portable drive, ensuring the evidence couldn’t be destroyed.

“You’re not going to work today? Don't you have people you need to hunt down, torture, and drag to hell?” Her humor made me smile against her hair. “I think hell would function just fine even if I take the day off,” “You sure about that? I've heard rumors that owls are also around the area and are quite vicious. They won't attack the scientist, will they?" "Don't worry. Their presence is quite rare around the lab. The rats either die because they can't handle it, or they run away from the lab and are caught by other crows." 'What? Rats? Crows? Owls?' Xavier frowns, not understanding a single word they're saying. It could be related to the research they are working on. Are they researching the interaction between rats and crows? Now, the Kratoh was loose and it had multiplied. The one he had killed was far too small to be the one he remembered seeing Svyn with. The house of Krane was where one would come to if one was looking for a human slave or a messenger demon or for some secret information, to cast a spell or to break a spell, conjuring up a demon or anything else of the dark art. Elvis Krane was the demon to come to. Why a demon would be called or named "Elvis" was a question that he had asked himself several times before, but then he grew tired of it. He could not understand these creatures and he maybe did not want to bother himself much about it any more.

I watch through the camera feed as men in tactical gear circle a large wooden crate left just outside the perimeter gate. No markings. No sender. No fear. That’s the first sign. Whoever sent it wasn’t afraid of being traced. The lid is pried open. Even through a screen, I see the blood first. Dark. Thick. Wrong. One of the guards recoils. Ronan swears under his breath. Inside the crate is what’s left of our mole. Or what used to be. Limbs broken. Fingers removed. Face barely recognizable. A message carved into his chest. RAT.

Charts lined the walls: circulatory systems glowing red, skeletal structures overlaid with bite patterns, reproductive diagrams that made a few humans in the front row shift uncomfortably. Mrs. Krane—a tall, elegant vampire with silver-streaked black hair pinned in a severe chignon—stood at the podium already, hands clasped behind her back. “Seats,” she said. No greeting. No preamble. Nico took one near the middle-back. Not hiding. Just… not front row. Mrs. Krane tapped a control. The lights dimmed. A projection bloomed above the dissection table: a stylized diagram of vampire physiology, zooming in on the pelvic region.
