Setting it down on the table, I rummaged through the graveyard of receipts, leaflets, half a packet of chewing gum from years gone by, spare tampons — in case of emergencies, and lots of other junk I hoarded in there.
"Why do women like to accumulate crap? Our mom is the same. Her purse could sink a battleship too. Oh look, you've rescued some hidden treasures," Lucas muttered with typical male sarcasm as I picked up a lip-gloss that I thought I'd lost, and an old ten-pound note I didn't remember having.
Knowing me, I had stuffed it in there during a drunken night out. It made a change from finding notes screwed up after washing them in my jeans’ pockets.
