In the corner stands a crib, hand-crafted and perfect: rich wood with clean lines, carved subtly with tiny thornless roses along the headboard. Above it, the ceiling is painted midnight blue, scattered with hand-stenciled constellations that glow faintly, real glow-in-the-dark stars, placed with astronomical precision. A mobile hangs over the crib: delicate crystal prisms shaped like white roses, catching the light and throwing tiny rainbows across the walls.

Thunder booms overhead, and lightning cracks the sky in two, illuminating the darkness all around us in vibrant blue light. There’s a soft click, then muted yellow light erupts all around me. It startles me, and I jump. “What is that?” “A solar powered lantern,” he murmurs. He’s soaking wet. Water drips from his hair as he rolls out a second sleeping mat and begins to unbutton his shirt. The fabric clings to his body as he roughly tears it off and tosses it in the corner with my wet clothes. His eyes slide to mine then inspect the shirt I’m wearing.

It wasn’t what I was expecting. Honestly, it topped Tyrone’s gift but I wasn’t going to tell him that. The room was small, but not too small. There were no windows on the wall, but there was one on the ceiling. Tyrone told me that it was called a skylight and that during the day it would allow sunlight into the room or I could watch the stars at night. The bed was built into the floor, the size of one wall to another and decorated with fluffy blankets and a few pillows.

Paper snowflakes line the windowsill, catching the light and shining like bits of frost. We both huff at the same time and collapse onto the bed, completely spent. “That was a lot of work,” Sid says, breathless. “But the results are amazing!” She says cheerfully. I hum in agreement and stare up at the ceiling. Fairy lights are arranged above us in loose constellations, tiny stars glowing softly against the pale surface. Paper snowflakes hang from nearly invisible threads, floating like they’re frozen in time. The room feels warm, cozy and almost whimsical.

[Spectacle.] My father's room was bathed in a soft, magenta hue. The source of the light was his nightside lamp which he apparently had changed the bulb to some kind of LED smart bulb. Admittedly, it gave the room an extremely sexy vibe. Walking slowly to his bed, I stood next to it staring at him. His eyes were taking me in, looking over my body with a roused look on his face. I climbed up onto his bed and sat down beside him. For a minute, we were both quiet, eyes locked on each other.

I changed out of my clothes into my nightshirt and jumped on my bed after switching off the light and stared at the stars and other planetary bodies splayed on my ceiling with my hands resting behind my head. It was something my aunt bought for me when I first moved in and I was having nightmares about the accident. She had found out that I was okay whenever I saw the stars, so she got me a light that projected the stars. But try as I might, I couldn't sleep. I turned and tossed around for hours, yet sleep denied me the comfort I sought. While tossing for probably the hundredth time that night, I heard the loud sound of a motorcycle engine. They were fast asleep, so I walked in quietly and gave them goodnight kisses before adjusting their blankets. “Goodnight, my babies. I promise everything is going to be better from this point forward” I lingered for a few seconds before I left the room. I made sure to turn their moon-shaped bed lamp on because they could wake up in the middle of the night and get scared if the room was too dark. “Okay. Let’s do this,” I told Astrais as I entered my own room and locked the door behind me. “Show me what other powers I have”

His bed was expansive and comfortable as I lay there and stared up at the ceiling. This one wasn't a canopy, though he had a chandelier. It was decorated with deep blue crystals, which added a dash of said color to the room along with white light. I turned my head, studying the nightstand. A lamp sat there with carved shark designs upon it. The general scent of the room reminded me of a pine forest near the ocean. The vibe was as though I was looking out toward waves as the clock struck midnight.

She then turned off the lights and climbed on the bed. An hour of silence passed, but Hae Mina could not find sleep as energy and worrying thoughts raced through her. She rolled on her back and looked up to the ceiling. She noticed a square block and stood up. Her fingers were an inch too short to reach it, so she climbed from the bed and flicked on the overhead light. She then began to look for a way to open the skylight.

She missed those midnight birthday wishes. “Come on!” Excited Lani pulled the stupefied Opal. As she walked to her bed her eyes registered every change they did in the room to celebrate her day. All the bulbs and tube lights in the room were switched off by them but they made use of LED lights to illuminate the room. Those tiny red and white glow in the darkness were like magic stars. Above her head were hanging ribbons and balloons. The walls were also adorned with balloons, flowers from ribbons, and some other decorations.
