Ryleigh swallowed the lump in her throat and folded the letter neatly back into the envelope. “Of course,” she whispered, grabbing a piece of toast from the counter as she moved. No time for eggs. Not even coffee. Margaret’s threats always had a way of draining the appetite.
She gathered cleaning supplies from the storage closet just off the laundry room—disinfectants, rags, polish, a new set of plush towels, fresh linens, and a basket for any laundry—and then made her way to the Alpha’s wing.
