Lucas’s eyes followed her hand.
“Does it still hurt you?”
Arabella kept her hand on the one inch wide, five inch long scar. It did not twist or pucker up like most scars did. She could only imagine it was because of the magic that was used. Still, it was an ugly mark that would never go away, a harsh reminder of her foolishness.
“No, baby. Sometimes it twinges, but that is about all.”
Lucas smiled at his mom and kissed her cheek. “You are the most beautifulest mom ever, the scar just makes you dangerous looking>” Now Lucas broke out in a boyish grin, giggles erupting from his throat.
