“H-Hi. I d-didn’t s-see you.” He smiled and extended his hand. “I’m Daniel, Adrian’s best friend.” I shook his hand nervously, staring at his brown eyes and sharp nose. He looks a little bit familiar, but I shook that thought off immediately. “I I’m Isabelle.” Ugh, why am I such a weirdo? Daniel pulled his hand back. “You’re meeting Adrian’s mother today. Act like you’ve known Adrian for a long time. Be clingy, affectionate, and convincing enough that she believes you’re in a real relationship.” He said in a serious tone.

Adrian sat in his office with a calm look, typing slowly on his laptop. The day had been long, and his mind was tired. Just then, his best friend, Daniel, walked in with two cups of coffee. “Man,” Daniel said, smiling. “You look like someone who hasn’t slept in days. You need this.” Adrian chuckled softly. “Thanks, Daniel. I’ve just been busy. So many files to review.” Daniel sat across from him and handed him one of the cups. “Busy? Or just thinking too much about Savannah again?”

**Laila's POV** I stepped out of the company, needing a breath of fresh air and a brief respite from the constant chaos. The sun was warm on my face, but it did little to ease the storm brewing inside me. As I headed back towards the entrance, I caught sight of him—Daniel. My heart skipped a beat, not out of love or affection, but from the rush of anger that surged through me like wildfire. His usually confident demeanor was replaced with frantic movements. His tie hung loose, his hair disheveled, and his face was etched with desperation. He looked like a man clinging to the edge of a cliff, and I knew I was the one who had pushed him there.

“People are exhausting.” “That’s generally true.” I liked him immediately. Which probably meant he was dangerous. The universe worked like that. “I’m Daniel.” “Amara.” His eyebrows lifted. “Nice to finally meet you.” I froze. “Finally?” Daniel nodded. “Adrian talks about you.” My soul briefly left my body. “What?” “Not often.” “What?” “But enough.” “What?” Daniel laughed. “You’re making a very funny face.” I stared at him. Adrian talked about me? To people?nVoluntarily?

“That’s never a neutral ‘oh.’” Elena looked up slowly. “It’s an invitation to Daniel’s wedding.” Silence. God. That definitely startled him. Daniel Hayes. One of Adrian’s oldest friends. One of the few people who witnessed their relationship through every ugly phase. Adrian leaned back thoughtfully. “Wow.” Exactly. Because years ago, Daniel openly told Adrian he thought the marriage would collapse permanently someday. Reasonably. Elena sat beside him slowly while rereading the invitation. Then softly: “He’s getting married.”

Ava's worked best when she refused to let panic become policy. "Emily Hart. I opened the outer door." Ava's teenage fragment swore. The market floor became wet. Emily's wedding dress dragged river water through the ash. Daniel's first lie was small. He said he did not remember signing the witness line. His sister Emily looked at him, and the lie died of embarrassment. "Daniel begged Below-Prayer to save Ava," she said. "I begged it to save him. Hungry things love a family discount." Daniel staggered.

Daniel kept trying to start conversations with Elaine while Adrian watched him with the calm intensity of a predator evaluating prey. At one point, Daniel smiled politely toward Adrian. “And you are?” “Adrian Vale.” The color drained slightly from Daniel’s face. Ah. So he knew exactly who Adrian was. Interesting. Daniel recovered quickly. “I’ve heard a lot about you.” “I doubt that’s a good thing.” Elaine nearly choked on her coffee. Lily looked irritated immediately. Daniel forced a laugh. “You have quite the reputation.” Adrian’s expression remained calm. “So do you.” Silence.

"Then do your internal sensors trust the data file from your mom or the data file from your dad?" "My dad, I think. Because his system tracks as ten times nicer to my station," Daniel states firmly, nodding his head. "Because if Hayden’s dad was truly Ada Lube, there exists absolute zero mathematical way Hayden wouldn't want a legendary father like that asset! Ada Lube is totally amazing on the mountain! He stands as my ultimate lifetime idol!"

It was none other than Abbadon herself. “How dare you, expose this fight to a mere human. Then you have the audacity to raise your sword to my daughter. You and your son will be severely punished.” Most AODs were terrified of Abbadon, she stood 6’5 and had jet black hair. Her eyes were as red as blood. Daniel, however, was not. “Then come on with it.” Daniel said flatly. “Let’s get this over with.” His reaction only angered her more. She wanted him to cower, wanted him to beg for her mercy. She wanted to see the terror in his eyes. But there was none. Daniel had survived over a century in hell before conceding to Lucifer, Abbadon was nothing compared to that.

Eden and Regar's eyes then meet each other. "I know that his greedy character of knowledge has attracted him to the experiment.
