It felt strange to think that I shared a bed with a fae—a fae I didn’t truly know all that well. Because you can’t get answers to your questions. The doors opened for me at the end of the hall. I lazily threw myself onto the enormous bed and gazed out over the many beautiful fields illuminated by moonlight. My eyes closed quickly, and as they did, I felt the calm return—the calm the night always brought with it. ** “Jump higher!” The laughing voice behind me made me smile, too. I jumped as high as I could, reaching up into the darkness, trying to touch the star. Strong hands caught me from behind, practically throwing me upward toward it.

Though he always locked the fae in the house and was never allowed to cross the gates without mine or Theo's permission and without company. Loud voices called through the night. “It's the guards,” I whispered, tearing my lips from Stone’s with an effort. His eyes had turned completely black, a sign that the dark side of the restrained fae prince had surfaced. The knowledge gave me a thrill. “I have to go back, or they’ll know.” “I don’t care if they do. I’m not joking, Aria. Don’t choose anyone tonight, or any other night. Don’t test me on it. It’s not a joke I’d take well”

Adriana and Daemon shifted into Lycan form, while the other Wolf-Shifters stayed in human form, prepared to shift should the need arise. The mist grew thicker, causing visibility to decrease. Each step was taken with care as we navigated through the unfamiliar terrain. As we walked, we heard strange noises coming from all directions. We couldn't tell if it was the sound of creatures or just the wind, but it made us all uneasy. We tried to stay alert and focused, but our nerves were frayed. From out of the murky mist, a dark Fae emerged. Its sable skin seems to absorb light, creating its own cloud of darkness, rendering it nearly invisible. Whispering echoes accompanied its presence, weaving
