My voice was dangerously soft, a low rumble that promised more thunder than sound, demanding the root of Adrian’s madness. Lilith hesitated again, the fear of speaking against her own father still etched deep in her features, her gaze flickering down once more before she forced herself to meet the intensity of my focus. She didn’t answer at first. But then she started. “He did something terrible and he didn’t want to uncover those secrets. He’s doing everything possible to make it remain hidden.
