“This is crazy.” Linc's stare on me drags me out of my meal as I turn to him. THREE WEEKS LATER. It was a Saturday morning. I sat on my couch, giggling and chuckling, my gaze focused on the TV. As I watched my favourite reality shows. I placed my hand on my tummy, because it was grumbling. Obviously I was starving. It was past ten Am and I hadn't had breakfast. I picked up the remote control, pressing the power off buttton. I honestly didn't want to quit the show, but at the same time I needed to eat.

I plated everything, taking my own portion to the living room while leaving his covered on the dining table. I settled onto the couch with my plate, remote in hand, flipping through channels until I found a light comedy show to watch. Anything to make the day feel a little less crazy, more normalcy. I kept eating, the fork pausing mid-air whenever a funny line hit, small chuckles escaping me despite the knot in my chest. About thirty minutes into the show, my phone buzzed on the cushion beside me. I picked it up absentmindedly, expecting a text from Maya to check if I’ve gotten home safely.
