The Omega's Choice
Finally, during a brief lull in his calls, I gather the courage to ask.
“What language were you speaking just now?”
He glances at me, a charming smile gracing his lips. “Oh, just one of the human languages. Nothing for you to worry your pretty little head about.”
He’s so dismissive, so casual, that I don’t press further. It’s probably just another one of the many strange things about this new world.
As he finishes another call, the dense woods begin to thin, replaced by more and more… structures.
At first, they’re small and spread out, like the motel, but then they grow taller, closer together, until we’re surrounded by a dizzying array of buildings that scrape the sky.
