His sharp eyes lock onto our team. “Well, look who’s crawling around on the ground like worms,” the young man says mockingly. Damian grits his teeth. “Loki. Why does it have to be you, asshole?” The young man, Loki, laughs sarcastically. He snaps his fingers, and a wall of fire rises around us, making the prehistoric birds hesitate to attack again.

Timber flew into the air around us and everything was instantly drenched from the storm. I turned towards the fire, swiping blindly with the machete in my left hand, water coursing off my hair and into my eyes, making it hard to see. Loki cursed and moved backwards, the tip of the machete catching the front of his shirt and rending a cut in it, nicking the skin. He screamed a battle cry and was scrambling to his feet when I swung the second machete in my right hand, my more dominate hand. Because of the rain I misjudged again. Instead of decapitating him, I just cut his throat.
