The Way You Taste
Each step towards it sends goosebumps through me, and a coldness envelopes us.
Our guide stops midway, signaling us to gather around.
“These,” he says, in a hushed, spooky voice, “are the lost souls who met their end on this very bridge. On nights like these, they return, searching, always searching.”
“And this one?” Willow murmurs.
“Just creepy,” I whisper back.
“What, no actual supernatural reason?” she asks.
“Nope, just plain old creepy,” I say with a shrug.
“Well, maybe it’s some magical stuff we don’t know of yet,” she offers. “Maybe there’s some real supernatural force that you can’t explain scientifically.” She grins, like she just won a game.
