They didn’t care if they won or lost millions of dollars, if money wasn’t to buy a moment of happiness, they didn’t know for what it was invented. I walked in and started toward the stairs like something had been emptied out of me, completely failing to register that Lucian was sitting in the middle of the living room. I passed one to her. “Taste it.” She hesitated before accepting it. One small sip— then a soft cough. “Fuck.” She hissed, eyes squeezing shut for a moment. “It’s strong.” “Old.” I corrected. “It’s the oldest wine from the Laurent’s reserve. Most people don’t know how to drink it.” I said calmly, taking the glass from her before she could protest.
