Control it, or lose yourself.” Evelyn swallowed hard, the cabin spinning, her senses screaming in overload. Without being told, I knew that the spirits were getting nearer to exiting his body. I braced myself and started summoning the Moon fire as Vera called it. Just as I expected, it wasn't forthcoming. I kept trying and trying until I started hearing some weird sounds. It sounded like hundreds of people were speaking together at once. I was forced to listen and I quickly realized that the voices belonged to people that were close to me. I could hear Teagan's voice, mocking me with Bridget encouraging him to continue. I heard Alpha Kai's voice, scolding me for helping Alex. I heard Vera's voice insulting me, explaining how she had been fooling me into helping her achieve her dirty aims.

The cool wind whispered through the trees, carrying with it the faintest hint of her presence. Alone once more, I stared up at the glowing moon, a strange mix of determination and uncertainty swirling within me. “I won’t let you down,” I whispered. The promise lingered in the air, carried by the moonlight as I took my first hesitant step forward into an unknown future.

Kael shouldered him hard, keeping him moving, and the whisper laughed — a dry, crackling sound like bark splitting. More names floated through the dead air. Kael. You let your first pack starve. She felt the cold breath on her fur and knew it wasn’t real, but the knowledge did nothing to stop the shiver.

Tight enough that it felt like he was trying to talk me into playing along with the act as well. And I did. To be honest, I was weirdly enjoying the kiss when Lira suddenly cleared her throat, making us break apart instantly and awkwardly. "Luna, I came to remind you of your first day in the office today as the Luna," she said softly, her voice carrying a strange elegance. I nodded, finally letting my eyes land on her. Now I could see her clearly, rather than the brief glimpse I had gotten on the sacred bonding day. She had a cold demeanor, enough to make me question how she sounded whenever she laughed. Her face held little emotion. Was there truly none, or was she simply good at hiding it?

The last thing I saw before everything went black was the moon—bright, cold, indifferent—watching me from above the cliff I just fallen from. Then nothing. Just darkness. And silence.

He said a place like this shouldn't be empty, not with the Lunar Heart buried beneath it. Laila stepped out of the truck, her silver armor gleaming in the moonlight. She felt the vibration beneath her feet, a deep, tectonic hum that was separate from the city’s tremors. The Lunar Heart was calling to her, a siren’s song of ancient power that made the hair on her arms stand up. She told Kaden that it wasn't empty. She said the house was waiting.

I whispered. But Arnold continued mercilessly. “I, Alpha Arnold Reid of the Nightshade Pack…” My vision blurred. “…reject you, Leticia Hales of Frostfall Pack…” The mate bond snapped through my chest like something tearing apart inside me. “…as my Luna.”

the other said while still carrying the tube. The other stopped walking and looked back to where the tube came from. "Veer," his companion called him. "What is it, Lorja?" Veer asked without facing him. Lorja seems to smell something from the basement and keeps sniffing to find out where it is. "Do you smell what I smell?" Lorja asked Veer. Veer looked puzzled while still holding the tube. "Smell? What is it?" Veer asked. "Food smell! Whiwhiwhi," a smile played on Lorja's lips as he jumped for joy.
