When he shut his eyes, defeated, and slumped onto the floor, Elise smirked at me—the face of a winner.

I shook my head. I merely found her pitiful, for she'd spent so much effort on taking such a disloyal man for herself.
Not wanting to bother with them anymore, I opened the door and walked out.
I was just out of the door when I heard the piercing and wretched cries of a woman. Realizing that something was not right, I quickly turned back and dashed into the room.
