When her mother told her about Shah Zain, she never thought of it that he can do this. Mrs. Nimra kept talking about Shah Zain during the whole time when she spent with her. “What about you?” I turned toward Maddie and tucked my blanket more tightly around my shoulders. “Have you been seeing anyone lately?” “God, no.” The look of immediate disgust on her face was so dramatic that I started laughing before she'd even finished answering. “Recently it's been nothing but guys exactly like that one.” She gestured vaguely toward the woods where our unwanted visitor had disappeared. “Models?” “Young models.” She emphasized the word young as though it were a medical diagnosis. “Freshly legal, devastatingly attractive, built like Renaissance sculptures, and somehow possessing the internal depth of a luxury apartment staged for an open house.”

Five thousand dollars a month. It’s so easy. I have the link in no time. I send it to Roman’s work address. I settle in and create content. Who knows? Maybe there’s a bored billionaire somewhere who’d really like to see my cute, pink painted toes. Why didn’t I think of this before? I peel off my T-shirt and try to get a good shot of my cleavage. "My f*cking hormones, sh*t! Shake it off Magda!" I could see in their eyes the admiration for my inherent beauty and charm. I felt like I'm a famous television actress that everyone is obsessed with, like pizza that will never be rejected when laid on the table, like wine and beers that can almost replace the water if swallowed, like a bad drug that when once you use, you will never stop using it and like a potion that once you have been subjected under its magic, you will never be able to escape anymore.

But her mother hadn't told or explained anything to her, and that had touched her deeply. They had a special bond, four hands on one stomach, so to speak. But those events had broken her confidence and left a scar on her soul. The contact with her grandmother had intensified after that. Maddie smiled. Omem was a herbalist, a Wicca, a witch as she used to call herself. She always had a pill, an herb, or a tea for everything. She loved painting and being creative. She worked with young people who were struggling and sometimes it seemed like she had a youthshelter in her big house. Maddie met a lot off young people there, whom she had never seen before. And who would have spent the night there.

She reaches for her glass and takes a long gulp from her wine glass. “Now kids.” Levi starts. Madison turns her glare thankfully away from me and directs it on Levi. “Did you just call us kids?” Oh no, doesn’t sound too good. He coughs again. “Let’s just start again and enjoy the meal shall we.” Coach suggests. Levi nods. “You both have a photoshoot tomorrow morning with Hi Magazine so if you could both ensure you turn up bright and early. He has practice straight after.” “Are you kidding me, that crappy piece of magazine?” Madison looks like she’s swallowed a bunch of lemons. Her face is screwed up, boy she looks fucking cute right now.

“If you don't have something important to say, just leave.” “Well, I do have something to say.” She brought forward a magazine that was clutched to her side. “This is it.” The book slammed onto the table in front of me. I sighed, pulling it closer. “What the hell do you want me to do with a fashion…” The image printed on the first page caught my eye. My words were thrown off, and I struggled to believe what I was seeing. “That's Luna Mia,” I said slowly. I read out the title of the magazine. It was the top fashion magazine in the country. “What is she doing here?”

Not that I'm judging her, but it is surprising. "Using me for my connections like all the others?" I joke, but she just rolls her eyes and punches me lightly. Madison is a beautiful girl. Tall, black skin, brown-honey eyes and long brown hair. Damon would call her an... eight. Any eight, nine or ten is always welcome at Tundra, "You know you can use me as much as you want.
